Why Villages?

Unlike the cities, many of the villages have not had the opportunity to receive the gospel of Jesus Christ. Due to the absence of the Gospel, there is a high affinity to idol worships in the villages, which have significantly contributed to the moral decadence of the natives. The practice of idolatry is commonly passed down to the children and has become a way of life to the villagers. This vicious circle entraps the entire village community, holds them in bondage, and creates a highly resistant population to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is the only remedy to all problems.

It is reported that only 40% of Cameroonians are Christians. It is quite probable that the research did not include the villagers given that the villages are difficult to get to due to bad roads, and secondly, the natives do not speak, read, or write the official languages (English and French) of Cameroon.

Even if the percentage includes the villages, it is also likely that a much smaller fraction of the Christians are located in the villages secondary to the fact that majority of the churches are established in the cities. It is unfortunate that the few churches that are available have the tendency to promote their denomination rather than the Gospel. This practice in it self has created a lot of denominational believers under the Christian umbrella.

Also, because most of the villagers can neither read nor write, their knowledge of the Bible is based on the teachings of the denominationally trained and sponsored pastors. With this truth in mind, it is easy to see that the actual percentage of so called Christians is actually much less than reported and may not include the villagers.

The point I am making is that there are millions of entrapped natives that are dying and going to hell as the seconds go by and we need to reach them with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

My desire and the objective of GLIM is to reach this people with the Gospel and I pray that the Lord will lead you to join us in this venture.
